Important Update for Bournemouth Landlords and Investors on the Renters Right Bill

News at Homes & Steeple | 10/11/2024

Attention Bournemouth landlords and property investors: the Renters Right Bill is moving through Parliament faster than expected, bringing changes that will soon affect the rental market in our area.

The Bill has already completed its Committee stage early, wrapping up by Tuesday afternoon instead of the anticipated date of November 28. Despite attempts by Conservative members to introduce amendments favorable to landlords, these were not adopted due to their limited representation in the Committee (3 Conservatives versus 11 Labour MPs).

As the Bill progresses, it will next enter the Report Stage and Third Reading in the House of Commons before moving to the House of Lords. Given the current momentum and political makeup, it is unlikely that we will see substantial amendments favoring landlords.

The expectation is that the Bill will receive Royal Assent early next year. As landlords and investors, it's crucial to start preparing for the changes this Bill will bring. Staying informed and proactive will help ensure that you can navigate the upcoming adjustments effectively. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to monitor the progression of this significant legislation.
